Samsung C6620 Gets FCC Approval

Samsung’s new Windows Mobile Smartphone scored its FCC approval. This means that the new smartphone will be in the US very soon.

Samsung C6620 is a tablet shaped phone. It has a small keypad that is engineered to put glamour into the high-tech device.

TIM first launched the phone in Italy. It is tri-band (900/1800/1900 MHz) which means that I can very well be used in a lot of places in the world.

The phone is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1. It carries 3G support and a 2.0 megapixel camera. There is a microSD slot which means this phone can have a maximum of 8GB storage. TIM sold the phone with 1GB default memory.

Second Prada Phone Gets QWERTY Keyboard

The first prada phone, as what tech geeks would agree was nothing more than a fad for brand name, the second prada phone on the other hand proves to be otherwise. Prada is among the many fashion brands that entered the gadget world by having a product named after them.

The new prada phone is 3G enabled and it has a complete QWERTY keyboard. Despite of the complete keyboard, the phone remains thin and is therefore stylish.

Users can choose to use the new QWERTY keyboard or stick to the classic on screen buttons to navigate and use the phone. The new phone works pretty much like its original version with slight differences in speed and overall functionality.

Aside from the 3G support, this new phone also packs video conferring capability. It boasts a camera of 5-megapixel. It also has a full HTML browser and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The new prada will be sold in EU for around $820. US buyers will have to wait as it is unlikely for the phone to be released anytime soon.

T-Mobile and Google Introduce First Android Phone (G1)

T-Mobile and Google teamed up to bring the first Android-based mobile phone today. The T-Mobile G1 or simple G1 appears to be picking a fight against the popular Apple iPhone. The developers of G1 told the press during an online streaming yesterday that their new smartphone sports an open platform.

The phone sports a few features that are not available in other phones. The G1 will have an Amazon mobile music store preloaded. It has a built in QWERTY keyboard. It is incorporated with numerous online applications such as the Google Maps, Android Market and it is YouTube integrated.

As this is a joint project of T-Mobile and Google, the phone will be locked to T-Mobile. The phone can also read basic MS Office applications like Word and Excel. It can also open PDF files.

The G1 has a screen size of 480 x 320. It has a built-in 3.1MP camera. The battery allows up to 5 hours of continuous talk time. It has 1GB MicroSD card that is upgradeable up to 8GB, GPS and accelerometer. Connectivity will not be a problem since it is Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth ready.

Walt Mossberg a gadget enthusiast noted that the G1 phone is a “versatile device which will offer users a real alternative in the new handheld computing category the iPhone has occupied alone.”

The phone will be made available in October 22. It is tagged at $179 with a 2 year binding contract with T-Mobile.

Google Releases ‘Dream’ Gadget

Google released an iPhone competitor with the name, Dream Phone. The phone combines functionality and affordability. Gphone, or “Dream” appears as a modern, sleek gadget which does hurt buyers pocket much.

The said phone is Google’s attempt to offer the communication market its own version of the iPhone. Like iPhone, Gphone is a smart phone equipped with touch screen and hidden keyboard. Although with the same basic smart phone attributes, the Google’s prototype boasts many unique features.

The improved web browsing capabilities of the phone was said to be one of Google’s promised attention grabbers. This was made possible in coordination with several renowned phone carriers to date like AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless. Also, other Google-related applications like the Google search engine and Gmail (email application) is also conveniently included in the phone’s software package.

There will no one to question its price tag at $150. The said price will be available to pre-existing T-mobile users. On the other hand, another version of the phone will soon be released at $399. According to Google, free subscriptions will also be available to consumers in return for advertising favors. This is in line to their marketing strategy that will focus profit generation from advertisers rather than consumers who would be purchasing the phone units.

Gphone is now available to T-mobile users. An independent version will be released this October.
