Small is in and while every computer manufacturer is coming with a netbook, Toshiba didn’t dare to be different. Toshiba’s NB100 is the company’s answer to the growing demands for mini laptops or netbook.

The netbook craze which was started by the Asus Eee PC continues to influence the way manufacturers make their new laptops. The NB100 relies on Intel Atom N270 processor. It has 120GB hard disk drive and 1GB RAM and it has an 8.9-inch clear LCD TruBrite display. The widescreen LCD sports a 1024×600 resolution and an LED backlight.

The netbook has an ethernet port, three USB 2.0 ports, an integrated stereo speakers and a built-in 0.3Mp webcam.

Users have the option to either use Windows or Linux on the laptop. Consumers can purchase it either with a preinstalled Linux Ubuntu 8.04 with complete OpenOffice 2.4 or Windows XP Home Edition with MS Works 8.5 and a trial version of Microsoft Office.

The mini laptop has a battery life of up to 3hrs 47mins, a few minutes more compared to other netbooks.

There is a black, gold and silver version of the laptop. The NB100 will hit the stores this October. The price is still unknown.
