HP Releases Photosmart D5460 Inkjet Printer

HP releases another printer that is catered towards modern day photographers. The new HP Photosmart D5460 sports a few standout features that cannot be seen in other photographer printers.

The new Photosmart D5460 has a remarkable printing speed. Testing of the printer revealed that it can print more than 11 pages full of text in a minute. It can also print more than 3 pages of paper with images. The printer’s tray can store up to 125 sheets of paper.

The printer can also handle paper size of up to 5 inches by 7 inches. There is a separate tray should you wish to print CD or DVD covers. The input for CD/DVD covers is in the front bay of the printer.

If you find most printers use inks too much, this printer dares to be different. It has an extra black ink that is pigment-based. It is specially made for printing text. The new ink is actually a support to HP’s original base of colored inks. This ink is made to print texts cheaply.

Photosmart uses economical inks. It has regular cartridges that are tagged for $10 each, for all five inks. There is a high capacity version of cartridges however, so if you are a hardcore printer user, you can go for it. One regular cartridge can print about 300 pages of materials, giving an average cost of 3.3 cents per page. The bigger cartridge according to HP can print 750 pages of text materials, giving a 2 cents cost per page output.

The New Nintendo DS is a Camera and Music Player

Nintendo is elevating its game console into another level. According to a report by Nikkei Business Daily, the company is making its final preparation to release a camera, music player and game console in one – the new Nintendo DS.

It is indeed a three-in-one deal and while this gadget is the only follow-up to the recently successful Nintendo DS Lite, the new Nintendo DS version promises to give more than what most gamers need.

The gadget will be exclusively released in Japan, but like the other gadgets, it will soon reach United States and the rest of the world.

Nintendo earlier said in a press release that they are going sell 28 million units of Nintendo DS. That quantity is 2 million short compared to their last year’s number. The company also slashed the price of the gadget from the original $189 (20,000) price into $159 (16,800).

The company is positive that the integration of a game console, camera and music player into one device has a good future in the market. While many modern mobile phones integrated advanced image capturing and music playing capability, Nintendo tries to push their gaming console by simply adding more functions.

Nokia Prepares Touch-Screen iPhone Rival

Here comes yet another iPhone rival, this time, from a more experienced competitor Nokia. Reports indicated that the big mobile phone manufacturer is engineering a new touch-screen smartphone.

According to Reuters, Nokia will unveil the said smartphone on a special London tech event this coming October 2. The smartphone has a codename Tube. And it will be the first smartphone from the company that controls a large percentage of the mobile phone market.

The Finland based company’s upcoming phone will be competing against Apple iPhone and the high-end phone models from Samsung and HTC.

The Tube phone was first announced in August, only today the details of the phone’s features were leaked to the public. The phone has touch-screen capabilities similar to that of iPhone. Sources also said that the phone will feature Wi-Fi connection and Java applet support. It will also have a DVB-H mobile TV broadcast.

Like Nokia other high-end units, this phone will have a remarkable music service. According to sources this is Nokia answer to the popularity of Apple’s iTunes.
