Fujifilm Launches Acuity Advance UV Inkjet Printer

Fujifilm Graphics Systems, one of the world’s leading names in photography unveiled a new Acuity Advance wide format UV inkjet printer.

The new model is the latest installment of the highly successful Acuity HD2504. Compared to earlier versions, this new Acuity Advance printer has a modified print heard that enables it to print up to 40% faster.

Users can also choose to print in white ink option, a unique feature that perfectly complements the standard four color CMYK offering of previous models. The printer also uses Fujifilm Sericol Uvijet UV inks, an ink system that makes the printer print texts and texture clearly on ordinary white paper.

The new printer packs huge power in small size. It has a print area of 1.25m x 2.5m (49in. x 98in.). The printer also uses advanced technology in rendering texts and images. It’s true flatbed platform, small drop and grayscale print head technology accounts for high-quality and near photographic image print qualities.

This printer will make its debut in the market this coming Wednesday in SGIA tradeshow.

LG KC780 8 MP Camera Phone Introduced

LG unveiled a new 8 megapixel camera phone called LC780. The new unit sports a high-end lens by Schneider-Kreuznach. This camera has features that can be found in many modern digital cameras such as Face Detection, Smile Detection technology; easy-to-use shot modes, Smile Shot, Beauty Mode and a high ISO 1600 adjustable light sensitivity. You can attach the phone to your computer or laptop and use its camera as a webcam.

It camera phone also sports LG’s unique technology called SmarLight. It also has an Image Stabilizer and D1 Video recording to capture high resolution and DVD-quality video.

The unit also sports a 2.4-inch widescreen LCD. It has Smart Bluetooth and Motion Sensor Games.

Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company said that the unit was introduced with knowledge that the camera is one of the most used accessories in mobile phones. He added that users usually use their camera phones to take pictures of themselves, family, friends and loved ones.

The new phone will be available to the market this November. It will be sold in CIS and Asia, including India, Thailand, Hong Kong and China later on a price later to be announced.

Adobe Embraces Latest Canon, Nikon, Sony SLRs

Adobe System beefed up Photoshop’s ability to treat raw images from the digital single lens reflex cameras of the three biggest names in digital photography. This is what Photoshop’s Camera Raw plug-in 4.6 aims to answer and photography enthusiasts see this as a great addition to Photoshop plugs.

The plug-in took slightly less than a month before it was released to the public. Testing and reconfiguration was done to make it work with some of the best DSLR models. The release of the plug-in now includes support for a wide range of camera including Canon’s new EOS Rebel XS for beginners, its brand-new midrange EOS 50D, Nikon’s newly released midrange D90 and full-frame D700, Pentax’s newest entry-level model, the K2000, and Sony’s high-end 24-megapixel full-frame Alpha A900.

Adobe Systems also released an upgraded version of the DNG Converter software. The application allows conversion of high memory eating images file into a friendlier and easier to handle DNG format (Adobe Digital Negative format).

The DNG Converter software now also supports several medium-format products from Leaf, the Aptus II 6 and 7 digital backs and AFi II 6 and 7 camera bodies. The Olympus SP-565 UZ, Sigma DP1, and the Nikon Coolpix P6000 and the rather rare model from Fujifilm FinePix IS Pro is now also being supported. Fujifilm FinePix IS Pro is the camera that is used for infrared photography.
