Nvidia is taking its aim at top PC manufacturers to have its graphics chips be used in Netbooks which was never done before. At the same time, the company is also working on having its chips work with Windows 7 operating system.
Just last week, Nvidia had released drivers for its Ion Netbook chips for the Windows 7 beta operating system. The company had also announced that its certification of the Ion platform on Windows Vista operating system. The Ion chipset was based on the GeForce 9400M graphics chipset from Nvidia. It is currently being used in Apple’s MacBook to handle graphics tasks.
Nvidia’s ultimate goal here is to have Netbooks perform like a laptop. And that is by having the Atom processor that uses Intel silicon replaced with its own chips. Most companies that manufacture Netbooks, like Asus, Acer, Dell and Hewlett-Packard, uses an Intel chipset with Atom processor.
