LG Boasts First LTE Cellphone Chip
LG Electronics unleashed the world’s first 3GPP LTE chip for cellphones and data cards.
There are a few great things about this new release, other than being the world’s first, the new LTE chip allows amazing transfer for 60MB per second. That is already a world record for fast user to network and user to user transfer of files.
Testing also shows that the chips are capable of 100Mbps/50Mbps download/upload speeds, but settling for 60Mpbs is not a bad consolation already. During a demonstration made by LG, the unit was able to download at 60Mbps rate and upload files at 20Mbps speed. It leaves the dust what modern world uses: the HSDPA network which rates at 7.6Mbps.
There is no word yet as to when will users be able to have handsets with 3GPP LTE chips. Rumor has it that it will not be too soon, although the company claims that they are already in “test terminal running Windows Mobile” for the viability of their new product.
