HP MediaSmart Home Server Software Update

Hewlett-Packard had recently released a Software Update for its MediaSmart home server. The software update 1.3 was released to improve the media streaming capabilities as well as the server-side antivirus protection of the MediaSmart home server.

The update will also prepare the MediaSmart home server for 64-bit operating system compatibility. Though termed as update 1.3, it was officially released last Wednesday as HPMSS-1.3-R1. Aside from the improvement stated above, image processing in HP Photo Webshare is also improved with this software update.

The MediaSmart home server was mainly conceptualized to provide a central repository for backing up and accessing digital music, videos, photos, and other files from multiple computers on a home network. The MediaSmart home server from HP support Windows PCs and Apple Macs running Leopard using Apple Time Machine software.
