Audio Hardware Problem with Windows 7 Beta

Microsoft is trying to assure Windows 7 Beta testers that the feedback they are submitting are being considered in the enhancement of the new operating system. The technical team of Microsoft reported the improvements in the beta version of the new Windows OS by posting a list of changes made in response to user feedback in the Windows 7 blog.

Most of these changes were made on the user interface of the operating system but one of the non-user interface enhancement that was done was the improvement of support for devices in Device Stage. Device Stage is the visual display of hardware devices that Windows 7 can recognize.

Microsoft’s technical team had acknowledged that audio hardware has problems working in Windows 7. The main reason is that of the 26,000 customized audio drivers, there are some that are not available on Windows Update. Microsoft in return is tightening up its testing program in response to this with the upcoming release candidate version. Microsoft had said before that all hardware will be supported by Windows 7 as long as the driver for the said hardware is supported by Windows Vista. However, there was a report on an upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 that challenged this claim since a clean install is needed before the hardware works in the new operating system.
