$200 Eee PC Netbook Coming Next Year

Asus will released a $200 Eee PC Netbook this coming 2009. This announcement was made by Jerry Shen CEO of the Taiwan based computer manufacturer.

Reports indicated that this netbook will even be smaller than the current Asus netbooks which measures 10-inch in width. Based on the report of DigiTimes, the CEO also cleared the announcement that their company will release 20 million netbooks in 2009. According to the CEO that number was only a goal and is never meant to be announced publicly.

Asustek’s introduction of the netbook thru the Eee PC brought a new ear in mobile computing. Netbooks which is currently categorized as small laptops with price lower than $500 now owns a large percentage in computer market. Asus currently share the netbook market with Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Sony and others.

A special report revealed that netbooks boosted the PC market by offering cheap and efficient mobile computers to the public. Statistics show that netbooks sales currently constitute more than 5% of the total PC market, a number that continuously increases according to some analysts.
